My dads note says that this is a 250 UFO vacuum variable capacitor. My father was an avid builder of amateur radio equipment, and this is from his inventory parts. New ones are $295 from Max Gain. FWIW I am also a ham, and build my own equipment, just have no use for this part.

It certainly appears to be. Appears new and never installed. I do have the original box. He was good about noting any issues with his parts, so I assume this is in as new condition.
